Martyr Carpus at Pergamum - Troparion & Kontakion
Troparion — Tone 4
Your holy martyr Carpus and his companions, O Lord, / through their sufferings have received incorruptible crowns from You, our God. / For having Your strength, they laid low their adversaries, / and shattered the powerless boldness of demons. / Through their intercessions, save our soulsKontakion — Tone 4
Podoben: “As You were voluntarily raised...” / The Master has granted your relics to those on earth / as a precious treasure and a fountain flowing with streams of healings; / they cleanse diseases of every kind / and give grace to souls in a never-ending stream; / and so with one accord we celebrate your feast with love, Carpus and Papylus.

Troparion (Tone 4)
Thy
martyr, Benjamin, O Lord, by his struggle hath received from thee, our
God, the imperishable crown; because, acquiring thy strength, he
demolished usurpers and crushed the powerless might of Satan. Therefore,
through his intercessions, O Christ God, save our souls.
St. Benjamin was a Persian. He was a deacon in
the Church in Persia and he was zealous in preaching the Gospel,
bringing many Persians and Greeks to the faith. For this he was thrown
into prison. One of King Yezdegeherd' s nobles pleaded for him to save
his life. The king offered Benjamin a deal. He would let him go free, if
he would keep quiet about Christ. The Holy Deacon replied, "I cannot
possibly do that. Those who hide the talent they have received will be
given over to greater suffering." The king ordered that thorns be driven
under his nails along with other tortures, until he entered into the
Lord's rest in about 412.

The
life of St. Gerald was written by St. Otto of Cluny. As a child, Gerald
suffered many illnesses. He wanted to be a monk, but was told by the
bishop that he could do more good in his position as a nobleman. Still,
he renounced his possessions, took a vow of chastity, and prayed the
divine office daily. He founded a church and abbey on his estate of
Aurillac. Suffering from ill health and finally blindness, he was
renowned for his generosity, holiness, kindness, and steadfastness in
the Orthodox Faith. At Cenezac, in the year 909, he reposed in Christ.
He became the patron saint of Upper Auvergne. Holy Father Gerald, pray
to God for us!
